A very rare and unusual French late 19th century articulated brooch featuring Joan of Arc (Jeanne d'Arc) as a warrior waving a flag of victory in pewter on a shell medallion. Above her are two gold vermeil accented silver medallions featuring her coat of arms: a sword within a royal crown flanked by two fleurs-de-lis. This brooch is very unusual as her heraldic symbols are also carved into the back of the brooch. C-clasp.
Joan of Arc is the patron saint of France and a symbol of feminine strength and bravery.
