This antique silver double-heart pendant with attached chain from the mid-Victorian era is inscribed with the words “The Lord watch between me & thee when we are absent from one another”. I had this necklace adapted from an antique brooch to become a very wearable necklace with a fancy-link sterling chain and lovely silhouette. Mizpah jewellery was popular during the Victorian era from the mid- to late-1800s. It was generally given as a "forget-me-not," and symbolised a bond of love between two people, especially if they were separated by distance. “Mizpah” comes from the Hebrew word for “watchtower” or “lighthouse”, helping the wearer to always find the way back home.
