This rare and very lovely antique Victorian turquoise and seed pearl ring features 20 evenly matched pearls (16 smaller and 4 larger) surrounding a beautiful clear blue navette shaped turquoise stone set within a delicate 18 kt gold setting.
Turquoise has been a powerful stone for millennia, believed to represent heaven and offer good fortune, strength and empowerment to those who wear it. Many cultures believe turquoise can ward off the evil eye, and the stone is also believed to offer protection against falls and accidents. In the Victorian Era, turquoise became a symbol of true love. Pearls have long been known to symbolize luxury, grace and purity. They were frequently also used to symbolize love, devotion, and faith. In the Victorian era, they also could symbolise tears, so they were seen as acceptable to wear during mourning.
