An exceptional and rare French blue Aurora Borealis Austrian Crystal demi-parure jewelry set (bracelet and necklace) from the mid-1950s. Four strands of smaller crystals are linked with larger crystals and the effect is quite simply dazzling. This set was sourced in Paris and one can only imagine the magnificent soirées it has graced. In 1956, French fashion designer Christian Dior collaborated with Daniel Swarovski's grandson, Manfred, to introduce the Aurora Borealis: an iridescent coating applied to crystal rhinestones that produced a rainbow effect. For around 10 years, these pieces became the height of fashion and are now extremely desirable.
