With a restrained elegance perfect for day or evening, this glorious necklace would have graced some very glamorous French necks over the last century. These gleaming aurora-borealis crystal stones are both neutral and reflective depending on the light, and the three strands together make a stunning statement. The colours of these beautifully faceted stones are very unusual, at times reflecting gold and other times silver. Perfect for a refined châtelaine.

Splendid and rare ornate gilt box clasp.

In 1956, French fashion designer Christian Dior collaborated with Daniel Swarovski's grandson, Manfred, to introduce the Aurora Borealis: an iridescent coating applied to crystal rhinestones that produced a rainbow effect. For around 10 years, these pieces became the height of fashion and are now extremely desirable.
