A very unusual lava cameo brooch from the early 1900s depicting Bacchante, follower of Bacchus, encircled by small well-matched seed pearls in a pinchbeck setting. Bacchante was a favourite subject of Georgians and Victorians in cameo jewelry as a celebration of feminine freedom, food, wine and pleasures.
Trombone clasp.
