Bring on Summer, blue skies and roses. Ah…how we love hand-painted porcelain! Here we have just the thing to brighten any dreary day... a happy bouquet of roses on a sky blue background. This antique French Limoges porcelain brooch has been beautifully executed and signed on the back. The cabochon is nestled within an elegant, scrolled gilt setting. Though dating from the late early 20th century, this very wearable brooch would not have been out of place at a ball at Versailles.

Trombone Clasp.

For centuries of jewelry-making, roses have symbolised grace, love and sometimes passion, and different colored roses have held distinct meanings. Red roses symbolized passionate love, while pink roses conveyed grace and admiration. White roses were associated with purity and innocence, and yellow roses represented friendship and joy. The rose, in all its varieties, was, and still is, recognized widely as a cherished symbol of love and beauty.
