Chateau de Chenonceau is one of the most beautiful late Gothic/early Renaissance castles of the Loire Valley, with a noble history dating back to the early 16th century on the site of a former chateau dating back to the 11th century. It is called the “Ladies’ Chateau” due to its many famous chatelaines including Diane de Poitiers, Queen Catherine de Medici, Queen Louise de Lorraine, and Gabrielle d’Estrees.
