A large and solid antique French gilt copper medallion featuring "Liberty", otherwise known as “Marianne”. She is widely regarded as the embodiment of "Liberty, Equality and Fraternity", and has been a symbol of freedom and emblem of France since 1775. The Statue of Liberty, a gift from France to the United States, is based on the figure of Marianne. A special item of French history that is equally handsome for a man or woman.
