From the smoked-filled speakeasy to the modern-day office, these beautiful post earrings from the 1920s – 1930s are discreet, wearable, and oh-so-stylish! Featuring sparkling marcasite stones within an elegantly curved sterling silver setting, the only thing missing is a fashionable setting to show them off.
Though used in antique jewelry pieces for centuries, marcasites had a renaissance in the Art Deco period (1920s–1930s) due to their affordability, versatility, and aesthetic appeal. The Art Deco era celebrated luxury, but not everyone could afford diamonds and platinum. Marcasite (iron pyrite) was a stylish and cost-effective alternative, often set in silver to mimic the sparkle of more expensive gems. Art Deco jewelry emphasized symmetry, bold geometric shapes, and intricate patterns. Marcasite's metallic luster and ability to be cut into small, faceted shapes made it perfect for creating the detailed, shimmering designs characteristic of the period, and also complemented both daytime and evening wear.
Sourced in France and curated by Paris-based Vivienne Birt for Chateau Love, these earrings the timeless sophistication and meticulous artistry that defines our carefully selected chateau-worthy collection of luxurious antique and vintage jewelry.
